Aftermarket ampilifier install

Hi

I have a 2016 x5m with Bang Olufsen sound system upgrade. Needless to say the bass leaves more to be desired even with this 3000$ option. I'm trying to install an aftermarket amp and sub in the car and plan to diy as I have some experience with my Amp/sub installs in my previous vehicles.

I was always able to find a wiring diagram of the stock audio system on the internet to identify the correct audio wires to tap into for the high level input connection to my amp. However I have been unsuccessful finding such a wiring diagram for this car despite extensive searching efforts online. I have narrowed it down to the group of wires in the trunk by the driver side taillight, next to the battery, but not able to deduce further. It seems like such a relatively simple install since power, ground, audio input connections are all right there. Does anyone know or have access to some sort of wiring diagram for this vehicle with BO and a remote turn on source that I can tap into?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Not enough bass huh...make sure you get some dynamat before you start rattling the truck apart with all your needed bass. Especially that trunk region

Why not go with an under seat powered sub?? I have read the Cerwin Vega vpas10 is really quite a nice boost and affordable - can even add 2 if desired

I hope you find a better alternative to our B&O as it was part of the reason why I went with a BMW F85! the sound system is just out of this world. try driving in a normal x5 w/o B&O for a week then switch to our F85 w/B&O

Sorry to go slightly off topic on this thread but I couldn't help noticing all these comments about BAVSound and I also thought I might help the OP from making a costly mistake and tearing up his nice B&O in a brand new X5M.

Please read this post I wrote in another thread about upgrading the factory subs to Earthquake drop ins:

Wow, Jenner, thanks for saving the day! I was just about to strike the hammer for the BAVSound subs. Do you have some sound clips of your setup?

No...

I'm not sure how to record anything that would capture the real life kick in the gut/butt and pressure of the sound waves and nor would I want someone to listen to it on a system that couldn't reproduce the bass in the first place. But if an iPhone recording has value to someone and/or there is a particular music request (and I have it) I am happy to provide.

If anyone wants pics of the install (not much to see really) or help with the install I'm happy to PM/email/txt/voice. It's such an affordable upgrade I suggest anyone who is ready to drop big $ or tear up the interior to check it out first and then decide if they need to spend more.

to each its own it's a preference, until you try you won't know, I like the oem feel that everything is in place without any distribution of removing grills and not reinstalling parts, I like hard bass when I pump the volume up, which it does deliver better then b&o in my opinion, too many factors to list like eq setting, bass and such.... it's not really such a big hassle to installed at least for me, both speakers took me about 20-30 min try it for yourself. Let me know if you need any more input

I saw in BAVSound website the seats need to be removed /unbolted, is that so?

Unless you want to climb under the car and put your welding skills into use but yes you have to unbolt your seat which is 4 bolts and tilt it back that prob the easiest part of the entire install the rest is pretty much the same just I a smaller scale it's really simple install and straight forward if you handy
