'16 50i - last visit to dealer before warranty expires. What should I ask for?

My warranty expires in a few weeks and I am taking my 2016 X5 50i in for an oil change and a version of a PPI - but lets call it a pre end of warranty inspection. Have a great Service writer - that will address anything that needs attention. Things that I have read here that go wrong with this X5 are Air Bags, Control arms (already replaced), and crankcase breather (which I think is not an issue for '16's). Anything else to replace proactively of a 16 50i??Plugs? 47k miles now.

Thanks!

Here are a few things I brought up before my manufacturer warranty expired, even if working correctly. The more you can list the better.

Steering Column noise
iDrive knob binding
Power Seats function
Power Locks
Gasket/Seal (Oil pan/Transmission)
Coil Packs
Sun Roof function

Definitely mention the panoramic sunroof. Although they functioned fine on both my 2011 and 2015 X5s, the cassette needed to be replaced on both.

Check the side of the driver's seat (and or passenger's) for cracking above the memory buttons - they can replace that under warranty if it is cracking.

Check the wheels near the center caps for corrosion.

Garage List
Check for oil leaks. Rear main seal, upper oil pan, transfer case.

My engine went out less than a year after warranty. I didn't see the warning signs at the time but if yours hesitates (may or may not misfire) or has more carbon from the exhaust than usual then I would have them check cylinder compression. This is a sign of a cylinder leak and eventual failure.

As above, check for ANY oil leak. And finally cross your fingers and hope for the best.

That sucks! Did you buy a remanufactured engine or just have it repaired?

BMW stepped to the plate as my dealership was my advocate. All service performed by them since I bought it. They had documented a few occasions during warranty of me bringing it in and misfires. A early plug changed just masked the problem that was most likely always there until it finally let go.

BMW agreed to cover 75% Goodwill at their replacement costs. What ended up being a $25k repair came to just $3200 for me out of pocket. They used a brand new long block.

Mine does not hesitate - but I do notice some carbon that builds up on my bike rack that is hitch mounted and in the draft of the exhaust. Likely normal though. Uses about 2 qrts of oil between oil changes (I need to add oil) - but everything I read suggests this is normal.

Thanks for the tip on the sunroof - it works with no issues currently.

Your car sounds fine, they all use oil some more then others . The carbon is normal when going WOT ,it will run richer that’s why there so much carbon and typically the exhausts tips will have a bunch of carbon too.

Pretty much the only answer... get this done, get all the faults/problems documented in writing, and take it to the dealer.
