I guess it's not too surprising that BMW doesn't put much effort into providing a viable remote start system, given that it's a European company and idling is illegal in most European countries. Disappointing nonetheless, since the US market is such a huge revenue stream for them.
Had a Compustar remote start in an Acura with the Drone cell phone add-on module, and got really spoiled by the ability to start the car when it was in a ramp 3 blocks away as I was leaving my office on a day where the temps never got above zero. Didn't have to sacrifice a key to make it work, either - which is complete BS. That's like having to cut off a toe and keep it in your pocket just to wear a particular pair of shoes.

Has anyone tried / heard of this product? After doing a little research, sounds like the product comes from Canada. It is a little pricey and you do lose a key fob.
