BMW Leather Key Case Anyone?

Anyone have one of these? In the Accessories catalog, retails for $39. Impressions, good or bad, welcome.

I was going to get one but felt it may make the key bulky. Can anyone that has one chime in?

There's a key loop that I want but it is hard to find and too expensive. CDN $100 believe it comes out to. As an accountant I think too much of the cost/benefit of things way too much.

It does make the key more bulky but in my opinion you need a cover to prevent accidental pressing of the buttons. My neighbor which also has a X5 was always complaining about how he finds his trunk open all the time for no reason. It was due to him having the key in his pocket and pressing onto the buttons from pressure. It also prevents the key from getting scuffed up from other keys as well.

Bmw X5 Leather Key Case

I have those. I like it a lot. It does make it a little bulky but prevents accidentally pressing the button once it is in you pocket.

Which one is less bulky, the alcantarra one or the leather one? The hard leather one looks bulkier in the photos

I have two of them. One is an older one that's soft and the other one is newer harder leather one with a metal clip I guess to keep the leather from flipping up.

I don't like either one, because the problem is… the leather flips up. Not to mention it makes the keys kind of thick in my pocket. It definitely does prevent button presses if that's what you're looking for, but it's not my thing. I only use it to keep my second key in storage.

like the alcantara look but it makes the key too bulky. I carry the car key in my trousers pocket all my life.......... never had a problem pressing the button by accident. unless you are carring like your house keys next to it, you have nothing to press it with.......

If you put the button side facing out then when you sit the creases from your thick jeans will cause it to press the button when you bend/squat or sit. Or sometimes, you bump into something and it hits the button. To avoid this I would always try to remember to put the keyfob with the buttons facing my body. Then I got the alcantara keyfob cover and life became good again.
Yes its bulkier.. but it doesn't bother me.

I never had that issue since I don't mix my key with anything else.
Also what I just recently noticed, the 2017 key is much lighter than my 2014. The body is no longer cast aluminum, instead just a plastic painted to looks like an aluminum.

The aluminum trim in the key is very soft. I got nicks and scratches first week of having it in my pocket with coins and other keys. I guess the plastic trim makes sense now.

I also keep it in a pocket where there are no metal that can scratch it.

I never have issues with buttons accidentally being pressed. Like ksang, I ensure my buttons are facing inwards against my body. Great minds think alike! 🙌 I still want a nice case that isn't so bulky though..

I think the alcantara is perfectly fine for its size and fits in my pocket without any issues.
