$5500 plus shipping, plus custom fees plus 2-3 month wait.
Considering it is only two hundred miles "old" you're getting a tremendous savings and no waiting period.

I agree but I understand their stance on this. Between R&D to build the system and the low demand for the product it has to be priced in this fashion in order to make it available. If you browse 50i exhaust offerings you'll find only three manufacturers. Hamann, ACS, and MeisterScam. Considering MS is a replica company that makes knock-offs of other exhausts and charges $4k I would say paying slightly more for the real product that has been supporting BMW platforms for decades isn't all that bad and my preference.

Having been involved in many ground up fabrication projects for Q7, RRS/RR, A3 and R32... There is more to it then just mapping out the piping and plugging in a generic muffler can. If that was the case than any local muffler shop could put together a system for you for for $550-700 but unfortunately there are many factors. Fitment, limitations in can size, tone, note resonance/drone, etc. Several versions need to be made and if you're going to put a highend name brand on the tips it has to be of quality metal and parts. Considering that maybe 10-12 of these will be sold on the 50i platform the price point is accurate although I too am not happy with it. Believe me I would much rather have a $2k exhaust with an ACS or Hamann or Eisenmann or Tubi Badge.
On the flip side considering it is so simple and you have a 50i, why not just go to a shop and have one built? If it works well and sounds right I am pretty sure most of us on here would buy one, especially if the price is a couple hundred dollars like you claim.

If we can get enough interest in the system we can certainly fab some additional units for member. Sorry to hijack your thread, I'll start a new one.

Would it install into the stock piping and exhaust tips? Or do I need to use the Hamann tips also?

i believe you would have to cut and clamp or weld the oem tips onto the hamann can/muffler. the layout of the system mirrors the oem exhaust i had the exhaust on top of one another to gauge size and fitment before installation. a second option may be purchasing a set of oem m-performance tips and installing those to avoid cutting the oem exhaust.
