swap 2018 x5d msport for 2017 x5m
Looking for some opinions !
Love my 18 x5d msport, it's my 3rd diesel x5 and I had intended to keep it longer than I usually do given that they are no longer available. The practical side of me has never been able to pull the trigger on an actual M. Situation has come up where for a nominal amount I could swap my 18 x5d for a 17 x5m. Firstly I'm looking for differences between 18 and 17 in general .. so far I've found the tilting rear sunroof was deleted in 18 (I knew about this b/c my 13 x5d had to have the roof replaced twice because of this.) I believe based on when the 17 was produced, there may be some differences in the iDrive? Other then the obvious of going form totally practical (my x5d even has the folding 3rd row) to the less than practical, but much more fun - thoughts? Question: will my 20" winter wheels from the x5d fit on the x5m? I have an extended warranty on my x5d ... I'm assuming I should be considering one for the x5m? Appreciate all your comments in advance! |

20 inch winter wheels will fit on the X5M - I built up a pair of 551 20 inch to fit on my 2018 X5M.
I don't believe there are any IDrive differences between 2018 and 2017. Handling wise, you will find the ride a little harsher compared to the X5d due to having true M Suspension. Having come from an E70 X5 40d, do I regret getting the X5M - short answer No. The V8 sounds and behaves brilliantly, and mpg is not that bad if driving sensibly - I'm probably worse off by about 7 mpg compared the 40d. Hope this helps you. |
