Anyone have a damaged roof rack?

I have a 2018 X5 Xdrive35d - looking to create some type of mount for an antenna for two-way radio on one of the rack rails. Need to figure out a clamping mechanism that won't damage the vehicle, so opening one side of a damaged one might give me some insight.

My other option is to create a mount on the interior of the rear hatch (which is my secondary option).

I'm still new, so don't have PM capability as yet.
