CarPlay - strange symbol - help!

Hi,
Any idea what the line through the WiFi symbol means - I know it seems obvious but would appreciate a considered input.

Normally, and icon with and exclamation point means a problem with that thing. So, I would be looking at what WiFi you’re connecting to and figure out what the problem is.

It means you're connected to WiFi without internet. ie wireless CarPlay

I wouldn't call it a bug. It's just letting you know your WiFi connection has no internet connectivity.

I had the same icon appear on my screen after I upgraded to IOS14. I have the aftermarket Bimmertech. MMI Set up in my vehicle. I read on a forum where changing the Wi-Fi channel on aftermarket unit to something other than 149 would fix it. In my case it did. I'm not sure if yours is OEM or a MMI box but that's what worked for me

What are you "fixing"...just the fact that there's an ! Over the WiFi symbol? I don't experience any malfunction from this. It's just a symbol. Are you experiencing some kind of issue from this?

And I have oem and aftermarket but my aftermarket isn't wireless.

Hi,
Sounds possible - mine is a genuine Bmw head unit but retro fitted upgrade

How did you change to Channell 149?

Thanks

This! It's not a bug. Your phone is telling you that it is hoked up to wifi which has no internet. Phone will use cellular data for internet instead.

Here's a video showing how accessed the MMI box to change the channel. Please note I have a Bimmertech retrofit and not OEM unit

My phone was constantly disconnecting over wireless and wired CarPlay. This icon was present when the disconnects were taking place and it was all after I upgraded to IOS 14. After I changed the wireless channel my issue went away. Now I have sold connections with the unit.
