Drivetrain Malfunction and entire fuel system to be rep
I posted last week about a sudden break down and tow. The car lost power and had a message saying “ drivetrain malfunction “.
It was at the dealer for almost a week as they had to trouble tree the system to be sure and have someone from Germany make the call So everything is being replaced From the tank to the injectors. If it had fuel in it. It’s gone. They say metal went thru the system. Should take 2 weeks to get parts 2018 X5 35D M Sport with 29,000 km |

Yes. Complete failure of the HPFP which put metal into the fuel system requiring everything to be replaced
Good it is still under warranty or I’d scrap it |

Did they say why it happened? I have 32k km on my MY17, debating getting an extended warranty when my 4 YR expires in March 2021 specifically for this.
I ran my E70 35D to 240k KM without any pump ssues, so why is this pump on the F15 so problematic?

They have to send the pump back to Germany to see why. I’ve read water in the fuel can cause it but not sure what happened. But it is probably a $15-20,000 repair bill
