Fabspeed SuperCup for the X5M/X6M???

I've been complaining about the look of the OEM exhaust and stated it could use a bit more volume. I can't justify the current "M Tax" options. M Tax is getting out of control, even a complete muffler for a rare GT4 doesn't cost more than $3,300 yet a muffler for the X5M/X6M is $4,500.

With that, what do you guys think if this option is available for our cars?

American made exhaust with ridiculous amount of R&D in each product. They're well known in the Porsche and Supercars community. Your opinion matters and will help with justification for Fabspeed to prioritize building/testing of this product.

Speak your mind... Go!

With the low number of potential customers (compared to more common vehicles), what will make their exhaust any cheaper than what is already available? Particularly if they have to commit a "ridiculous amount of R&D" to develop it.

Good feedback. Fabspeed Motorsport already have the SuperCup exhaust for the E70 X5M/E71 X6M for less than $1,900. To make it fit in our cars, they just have to re-angle the inlets/outlets and test to ensure it sounds great/gain power. Not much further R&D needed if it works out.

On low customer numbers, the Porsche GT4 is more rare than the X5M/X6M combined. Yet Fabspeed has Valvetronic muffler for it at $3,295 list price. Priced fairly and still made in the U.S.A.

im a big fabspeed fan and would definitely be interested if they brought something to market and kept it along the pricing lines of that unit. I love their r8 exhaust they offer, and was happy with their product on our old cayenne gts also.

Good feedback. The Fabspeed on the 957 Cayenne GTS sounds amazing. I bet you miss that sound.

Nice on DPs... What tune are you running to prevent CEL? Don't ever use aftermarket high flow CATs, the CEL will eventually come on. Can't fool the BMW tune without a tune.

Sounds....a little raw? Where's that refined German growl? I suppose mufflers are smaller, hence....

That was on an E71 X6M, which has less resonators compared to the new X5M/X6M. I know because I tried the valve mod on my X5M, which bybass the muffler in a way. It still doesn't sound much louder. The valve mod on the last gen X5M was louder.

I would imagine it will sound similar to Eisenmann Race Exhaust. Photo below, Eisenmann for the F85/86 (left) and FabSpeed SuperCup for the E70/E71 X5M/X6M (right).

The systems from e70 and f85 have a very similar layout and one could probably modify to make the e70 work with minimal cost.

Turbo engines mute exhaust note and doesn't really increase volume too much. I really needed the option for valves for daily driving and when kids are in the car so I went forward with the Manhart system. I will have videos up later next week. I primalarily chose Manhart due to a slightly cheaper price compared to Eisennman with valves and really wanted bigger tips. I don't expect from the current videos posted that the volume will change much. Plans are to run catted high flow down pipes in the future so volume should be perfect when complete

FI exhaust will be coming out with their system soon. Full system with or with out downpipes. System will be pricey but atleast its a full system and not just muffler.

Someone in Canada modified A e70 FI system to work on the f85. I talked to the shop that did the work and they said it actually wasn't that much of modifying. They sent all the adjustments back to FI to complete their system. It would probably cost around 5k for cat back. It is full controllable valves with on/off and rpm settings. Sounds pretty good

Twin turbo V8s are very quiet, especially the new F85 has tons of resonators and second cats. Even with race style exhaust, drones would be minimal. I'm sure testing will be done to ensure the driver doesn't experience drone or sound fatigue at highway speed.

Unlike the F80 and F82 M3/M4, our cold startup sound is very low.

Honestly, the biggest drone is BMW's ASD. I would code ASD off before doing any exhaust mods.

I did the exhaust flap disconnect on the stock system and noticed difference. It's my wife's DD and I didn't tell her. She drives in D1 and called me next day at work and asked why her car is louder, what did I do now?? . It's definitely noticeable. I must say, it's sounds pretty good for a stock system. Definitely best stock M exhaust I've heard. That being said, if the fabspeed product was 2k, I'd consider.

The tune is going to be Gintani as well. So if all works out they should be tuning my car, DPs, and a rear exhaust section. I should be dropping my car off within a week or so.

When you disconnect the valve, all you're doing is keep the exhaust in Sport/Sport+ all time even at idle. At WOT, it sounds the same as if you're putting your car in Sport/Sport+ which opens the valves at higher RPM.

If you look at Fabspeed pricing model for Porsche, their price remains the same for all gen 911s for the same product. So if the SuperCup is $1,895 for the E70 X5M, I would expect the list price to remain the same.

Who else would be interested in a sub-$2k American made Fabspeed exhaust?

Same brand mufflers, different engines...useless comparison. My E38 740iL will NEVER sound like an E39 M5, even if I installed the same B&B Tri-flo my buddy had on his, which sounded awesome.

$2000 though...I've already bought about $200 in parts will make the same thing while also adding an x-pipe, something the X_M doesn't have yet the F10 M5's do.

Fabspeed doesn't have any plans to build an exhaust for our cars yet. Right now and IMO, Dinan is the lowest price and best sounding. List is $2k, most reseller will work with you on pricing it a bit lower.
