Note that the AMG C63S is modded. The owner refused to accept defeat after 2 pulls. Excuses Eccuses... Maybe his tire was off by 0.5 psi?

That exhaust on the C63S though. Dayum. If you haven't test driven one of these, I highly recommend checking one out. They. Sound. Sweet.

I have. It weighs 400lbs more than an F80. I could feel the weight around the corner. Agree, the F80 sounds like crap in comparison. The C63S interior is nicer too. But at the end of the day, exhaust note can be fixed but you can't easily remove 400lbs from a car. Same reason why the Lexus RC/F can't touch the M4, it's a cow with a great sounding V8.

For a track-purpose car you drive during the week, agree. For a DD that sees no track time, I would take the AMG over the M in a heartbeat : the 400 lb difference was negligible in the feel (and I drove several F80s / F82s back-to-back along with the C63s). The difference in interior fit and finish alone had me leaning heavily towards the Merc.

But you've clearly already driven one. I am stating for those who have *not*, take one out for a spin if they haven't had the opportunity. It's always good to understand what the competition is offering.

I'm shocked to hear the interior is better on the benz. Their software has sucked in all the models I've driven.

Yep, Benz have always been known for luxurious interior and BMW is more known for the way it drives.

It's hard to beat BMW iDrive. It's rated the best interface in the automotive industry.

BMW never ceases to amaze me. A behemoth of an SUV against a compact sedan and still pulling in wins.

Looks nice! Not sure if quilting is enough to push me over the edge, but it's definitely nice.

So much of the experience of modern cars is with the media interface, it is worth a lot to me. I'd rather have a media interface that is twice as good, than seats that are a bit nicer.

I'm a BMW nut so I'm not going to argue with you, LOL. I sat in the new AMG GTS as well. The interior does make you feel like you're sitting in something very special.

What BMW does right is keeping the knobs and interface consistent. I went through 8 BMWs, I can easily adapt from one model to another. The knobs and buttons don't change much. I can operate the controls with my eyes close from one model to another.

I can't say the same with other brands. Each model vary so much that there's no consistency. I test drove the Porsche Panamera, there were buttons for days.

Photos below, comparing the high tech 7 series to the Panamera. The buttons on the P car makes me dizzy.

Porsche is ridiculous with buttons. And add-on charges. The MB interface is still ghastly, and having just moved over to BMW I way prefer the iDrive. But having driven the GTS, and other AMGs, the GTS is an absolute beast in sound and action. The cabin is too damn small though. I'm pretty sure the GTS would toast the X5M, but the inside is too damn small, and I hated the cockpit layout. But the GTS on the track (Limerock) was a dream. The new merc C63S coupe, however, I think is a beaut and it should be a good drive too. A pretty good deal for the money too.

Awesome video's. Thanks JNoSol

I did exactly as suggested and drove the X5M and GLE63S Coupe back to back and was blown away by the exhaust sound of the Mercedes. To be honest, the character of the X5M exhaust reminds me a lot of a VWE Golf GTI/R. I intend on doing something about that however.

Comparing interiors, I wasn't sold on the GLE. I do think it felt more premium, but I hated much of the layout and controls. This is where the BMW is absolutely miles ahead. The seats were really comfortable in the GLE, but they were even more difficult to get in/out than the X5M.

The GLE63S was on my list too. The interior is too outdated (I hate the iPad stuck to the dash design - whoever came up with that is a true dip****), but the exhaust is just damn good. And I cannot tolerate column shifting. That's just totally ridiculous. I think they'll be refreshing the interior in the next year or so...

The X5M exhaust breaks in around 4k miles. The note gets deeper and louder, especially driving around in Sport+. I'm pretty content with my exhaust right now, sound wise (it doesn't look good). Catless DPs would help with the sound further.

Powerbeast is selling his beautiful FI exhaust if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the info. It's going to take months to get the KM up that high though

That FI exhaust would look sensational on the Carbon Black - very tempting.

I'm just insure which is the best exhaust options at the moment.

Without the Akra being available just yet, it's probably worth waiting.
