ISTA+ Ethernet cable setup

I followed the directions that came with my ISTA download from Bimmer Diagnostics and for some reason I keep getting the Check vehicle interface and 'PAD active' error.

I searched and found this thread and followed everything he did to fix it to no avail: https://mhhauto.com/Thread-ISTA-D-connection-problem

Ive seen a couple threads that mention checking the Ediabas.ini which is fine. I also checked the registry files and turned the online mode to true and I still get the same error.

Any idea what could be causing my connectivity issues?

Assuming you are trying to connect it to your E90 not F15, check here

Oh I guess I should update my Garage as I no longer own the M3. This is indeed for an F15 X5.

Which cable are you using? E-net or ICOM?
Check the installation guide here

I'm using an ENET cable.

I figured out my issue. I had to go into the OBD.ini and change the COM port from 9 to 1.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction @RED_Y_

i like that they package it all as a single download. and for $20 i decided to delete my current version and get there set up. Curious though, do they send you an email with the download or how does it work. how long did it take to receive the download. need to replace my transfer case fluid before a trip later this week and need ISTA to reset the parameters.

After you PayPal the funds, you get an email with a link to download both ISTA+ and ISTA-P within 12 hours

So you remember it taking a really long time to download?! I have gigabit and this thing is only going 550KB/s. Looking at 9 hours! Lol I know it's not my internet cuz I just torrented a 6GB movie in about 6 min.

yeah, my download took hours.

Also, its not 100% set up, there are a few things you need to do on the back end after you install it for it to see your car and the cable. The link above walks you through it...except for the 1 issue I had.

I changed my transfer case fluid this past weekend and got everything all sorted in ISTA.
