Next Gen x5 in 2020?

I always thought there wasn't going to be a LCI version and next gen will come out in 2018 model.

This report says 2020? Already spy photos even though its 4 years away? ...

My insider that works for BMW HQ said the G05 X5 will SOP about August 2018 as a 2019 model.

The picture in that article looks more like the new generation of X3.

I heard that no LCI coming, and that the new model will be released in 2018 and will be sold as a model year 2019.

I would not be surprised if BMW sticks to the old release schedule with a LCI in late 2017 and the next gen another 4 years later.

For the LCI I would guess they will do some adjustments with the angel eyes and some other minor exterior changes and updated iDrive and digital cluster for the interior.

^^ they wouldn't because the whole point of not having a LCI X5 is because they want both the X5 and X7 that is coming out in 2018/2019 to be based on the same carbon core chassis. Makes sense because they will be produced in the same factory.

Yes, makes sense. But on the other hand, why have two such big releases so close? They dont even release X5 and X6 same year.

The future will tell!

I have heard from multiple sources that "LCI" is MY2017 (this summer's small technology updates) and that MY2019 (August 2018) is the new G05 model.

Something doesn't add up having a prototype on road 4 years before debut debut. I too think it will be 2018 model.

Think you're right, many just want it to be the X5, From the Blog, the camo car must be a X3

From BMW Blog

The G01 BMW X3 will begin its production cycle in August 2017 and will arrive at dealers late that year and early 2018. When it arrives in 2017, the G01 BMW X3 will bring an updated design language which will eventually be implemented in other BMW models as well.

So 2018 X3 2019 X5 as a 2020. Would they throw a new X3, X5, X7 all at once

From what reading 2017 looks to be a carry over year as far as design. For X3 and X5 ?
