X5 F15 transmission gear randomly change to Manual

Has anyone experience similar case where the transmission would randomly change from "D" to "M1, M2 etc" without pushing the shift level to the left? I tried coding the Sport Automatic Transmission by adding the 2TB and VO code, but did not get SPORT+. This issue is coming more frequently now that sometime it will stuck at M1 and won't shift to higher gear, so the rpm goes really high.

Yes. I did and a few others.

Does your steering wheel have paddle shfters? If not, you may be receiving fault codes upon adding 2TB. This is because the system is looking for the paddles, does not see them and gerates a fault, which causes it to randomly switch between D and M.

I removed 2TB and the car operated normally with no inadvertent switching between D and M.

Opasha helped me troubleshoot and fix my car. We determined that my car is most likely missing the wire for the paddles (from the steering wheel to the transmission). As I've tried everything I could think of to get them to work even swapping paddle circuit boards and still no paddles. Since Opasha coded my car, it is driving great. So far it hasn't done any random switching between "D" and "M" modes. Turning the paddles off and coding ALL folders (except DME) 2TB, and clearing DTCs must be the trick for my car.

I'm glad to hear that it is not a mechanical issue with the transmission. I saw someone mention the error goes away by coding to disable the Shift Paddle, any detail on how to do this?

I have an X-Line as well and had the same issue when I coded 2TB. Another member in the Coding thread suggested FDL Coding "paddle verbaut" in BDCBODY. I did this and have not had an issue since then. Give a try and see if it fixes the issue. I have Sports+ and SAT with launch control still enabled.

BMWMacht is correct. I would add:

If you have paddles then "paddle verbaut" in BDCBODY should be set to "active"
If you don't have paddles then set it to "nicht active"

Don't forget to clear any DTC's

Honestly i don't remember (not coding savy). Which folder should i VO code to enable SPORT+? I do get S1, S2 etc, when putting the shift nob to the left.

See below ....

Sport +, SAT, and Launch Control:

a) Add to 2TB to FA
b) VO Code BDC_Body, Kombi, and ICM
c) Transmitter app - Clear All DTCs (error codes) because ICM coding will always give false chassis stability error and these errors put your MODE into COMFORT only and does not allow you to switch between them until cleared.

what is the difference between SAT (S1, S2 etc) and SPORTS mode, or Sport mode + SAT? I think SAT is more aggressive than SPORTS mode (take higher rev to shift gear up). Just want to see what everyone prefers.
