Heat insulator and Underride protection parts question

Hey Guys,

During the CPO certification the dealer had to replace the two following parts:

Heat insulator part # 51-48-7-158-416

Under ride protection part # 51-75-7-325-391

I can't seem to find pictures of where these parts are located on my 2018 X5. Can someone help me find the pictures of where these parts are located on the car?

Why would these parts need to be replaced? How did the previous driver damage these parts?

Did you try to search on realoem.com?

Heat insulator #13 :

Tank protection left #2:

Went over something I guess?

sorry, did not check on real oem

would anyone have physical pictures of these parts on the car?

Are theses just panels that screw onto the car from underneath?

Is it something easy to replace?

If its easy to replace that would tell me the damage wasn't too bad right?

You can see the pictures on the ECS tuning

Yes both got underneath, one just plastic covers the fuel tank another one is tin metal/fibers goes over the exhaust at the bottom of the car. Hard to guess what exactly happened there.

Road "Gators", those large strips of retread rubber you often see on highways can easily cause this damage. Those strips from truck tires are pretty heavy and durable and if flicked up when run over by another vehicle can do a lot of damage.

I have heavy gauge stainless steel steps on my work truck (I drive an 18 wheeler) that were bent when I ran over a gator with one of my front tires. You definitely don't want one hitting your windshield so best not to tailgate or even drive too closely to the side of large trucks. Trailer tire blowouts are fairly common and when they go, it sounds like small bomb and that rubber tread goes flying everywhere.

One dude following me on I95 in SC nearly flipped his SUV when he was right behind me and a trailer tire blew. I don't think the rubber caused any actual damage, it was more the driver panicking and swerving sharply that caused the SUV to go up on two wheels. Pure luck why he didn't rollover.
