X5 Hybrid Repair Woes
I have a 2016 X5 Hybrid (Xdrive 40e) and recently had a fairly complete failure of the hybrid parts of the car. The EME, SME, and Safety Box all failed and repairs required total about $13K.
Has anyone had a similar experience? I'm a little hesitant that if I pay for this labor-intensive fix, that the car will actually operate well again. That's about 2/3 of the resale value of the car for the repairs, so I may just cut my losses and invest in something new. I can't believe the poor reliability though. Any feedback appreciated! |

The 40e is starting to sound almost as bad as the N63. OP is the car drivable? Can you her a 2nd opinion?

My 2016 X5 Hybrid started throwing codes related to the hybrid system. After reading all the horror stories others have faced, I immediately traded it on Carvana for a 2017 X5 (non hybrid). Also went from what seemed like a base model to loaded with comfort access, CarPlay, etc…. Relieved to be rid of those issues. Hope you get it resolved without spending the value of the car on repairs.
