Hmm, in similar boat and this could work for me. Looks like the 295/35s are about 1.4% taller than the 325/30s, just close enough to not cause any ECU issues? Definitely like the price.
This- that's increase could cause issue with your differentials.
That 1% diameter difference on xdrive isn't true. Sorry to say. I will give you an example from BMW themselves: The M235 xdrive staggered wheels are 225/40/18 245/35/18. That's 1.2% from the factory. My BMW dealer techs says the car calculates rolling diameter on startup and the computers take over the rest. Now I wouldn't go crazy but 1.2 or 1.4 isn't gonna do a thing.

I thought as little as 0.5% could do harm to the transfer case. Happy to be proven wrong.

In the case of the M235i, those tires are actually spec'd by BMW to be 0% different front to back (star symbol). Sizing across manufacturers is highly generalized, even within the same tire made for different OEs. Wouldn't overly rely on online calculators.

I'm upgrading from 2015 X5 (F15) to 2018 X5 M (F85). I'm looking for various options for winter setup, and it appears that BMW only recommends Style 611M 20" with Pirelli Scorpions. I would so much prefer to go with a smaller/thinner 19" wheels and have more rubber. Was anyone able to fit Style 298M 19" on F85? The 298M's were recommended for winter for an older E70 X5 M.

You'll have clearance issues. The 611M winter package isn't the same as the summer 611M. The OE winter set up has a narrower rear wheel wearing a matching 285-width tire (to the front) with a slightly lower offset (vs. the front) to maintain "stance". It's a great set up.

Thanks for the info, that's what I thought, just needed to confirm. I'll order the 611M winter combo, hopefully BMW NA still have them in stock. It's always the same story with the winter combos - all sold out after the first snowstorm, and back in stock in February.

I'm placing an order for my first M this week, as always the most difficult choice for me is the color. I'm currently driving F15 with the M package (Carbon Black Metallic/Moca), and was considering (Azurite/Smoke White or Azurite/Amaro or Aragon) for the X5 M, but will probably go with my all time favorite (Black Sapphire Metallic/Black Full Merino Leather).

Have you had these installed yet? No issues with clearance or ECU with the 295 up front? Did you go with 295/30 and 325/35 on the stock 21's?

Hi, this thread has been very useful! I just got a 2018 x6m (black fire) and I love it. Having some details finished on it. Will post pics when it's done

I got it on Thanksgiving Weekend, but the issue I ran into was there was NO WINTER TIRES avail in the 21". LUCKILY I found a pair this morning on Tire Rack.

Yokohama Winter Drive V905
Front: 285 35 R21
Back: 325 30 R21

Anyone have these? Thoughts?

I ask because in the past I had a 2012 X6m, 2014 M6 Gran Coupe (I lease) and the winter tires never fit properly on the BMW rim. From reading the posts I think I must have had a "box" set up in the past and that's why?? I'm hoping I won't have this problem with the Yokohama's and the winter tires will look just as nice on the rim as the stock tires

Thanks,

I got the OEM 20" with Pirelli Scorpions when I had my X5M delivered this fall, and installed them at the beginning of November when temperatures began to get closer to freezing. They are a great cold weather tire, wet or dry conditions.

What I can say after our first snowstorm today is that they are NOT a great snow or ice tire. Just got home after my usual 50 km drive through about 15 cm (~6 inches) of snow. Ambient temps are about -7 C (~20 F), so there is some ice under the snow and so far the plowing and salting has been minimal. I was surprised at the lacklustre grip from these tires!

Should have followed my initial instincts and gone for the Nokians, but I got lazy...

Thanks,
I'm having the same tires installed tomorrow on my X6M. They have good reviews and look good. See this thread for reviews and pictures when installed on our cars : http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1427389

Note: Yokohama BluEarth WINTER V905 and Yokohama WINTER DRIVE V905 are essentially the same tires - same tread pattern but different rubber compound yielding better fuel mileage. W-drive-v905 is older version of Bluearth W-v905.

Seems from reading this thread I could fit my old snows from X6 50i 275/40/20 and 315/35/20 onto the factory 20" X6M wheels (which use 285/40 and 325/35 tires) - just 10mm less on each tire width. Took these to dealer and they flat out refused to mount them indicating something about the wheels are wider on the X6M so there's over an inch difference (This doesn't sync with anything I've read or researched). I refuted with every fact I could muster and they had some "meeting" with the shop manager and the "tire guy" and just flat-out refused and said "no way - period."

Any thoughts on this? Are they just trying to sell a winter tire & wheel package or is there some legitimate reason for this refusal to even discuss it further? Oh, and the service adviser oddly mentioned as a last note they had this issue with someone last week--and when I asked what that guy did, was told the guy took it to another BMW dealer to get mounted. What's going on here?

Youre fine using those tires. I use the same set up on my 20" with no issues.

I agree - I'm not sure why they refused and would not listen to any facts on the topic or entertain a discussion... did you have dealer install or a 3rd party, just out of curiosity?

I had a 3rd party install it. 275 and 315 sizes are the stock x6 non m tire size by the way. I think your dealer was just being an *ss about it.

Indeed! I'm at another local BMW dealer that's a bit further away getting the exact same tires mounted and balanced right now for about 40% less cost. I wonder to myself since there was some impending snow last night, they hoped I'd default to winter wheel and tire package they were selling. Who knows.

So i just went through an ordeal trying to find winter tires for the stock 21" rims on the X5M.

the rear tires where easy to find 323/30R21 Yokohama BLUEARTH WINTER V905 on tirerack.com

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...re=23VR1V905XL

I finally found a distributor out of Italy for the front 285/35R21 Yokohama BLUEARTH WINTER V905 on ebay. the fronts are completely sold out everywhere in the states from my research and Yokohama won't be making any more winter tires until the season is over

https://www.ebay.com/itm/TYRE-W-DRIV...53.m1438.l2649

Hope this helps any one trying to get last minute tires that couldn't previously find them like myself.
