Headlight issues, please opine.

Having headlight issues. Swapping them confirmed the headlights and modules are fine. This leads me to believe this is a control module issue. Is there a FRM in the car or is it replaced by the Body Control Module? In the dark right now.

Edit I have a 16 X5M with Adaptive LEDs.

It was replaced by the body domain controller (BDC) in the F15 I believe.

Should be in the passengers foot-well. You'll need to remove the side trim and pull back the carpet to get at it. Check here for instructions to access it.

I'd download ISTA+ (if you don't have it already) and see what it calculates as a action plan on this, it can probably guide you through the full diagnosis. Given it is showing an issue on the other light as well, maybe a LIN bus problem?

It's looking like you probably have a short or a cut wire somewhere, you'll need to check the pins on the connector, I'm not sure what the voltages should be for each, maybe someone else can chime in. ISTA+ should also give you that info for diagnosing though.

I tried to mess around with the BDC connections to no avail. Light is still out. Appt with the stealer booked for monday at 915am. Preparing my anus for a massacre. Expecting a 5k or more bill, anything under that and ill celebrate.

Hopefully they can just test the wires individually to figure out what's going on.

Not that I can tell, wires look mint from what I can see. Everyone thinks its a bad wire and it probably is. I just don't have the knowledge to diagnose. Someone was in my passengers seat, we were chatting he stepped out, i put the car into gear and once I accelerated the errors popped up. This was after ive been driving the car for an hour or so, parked for 20 mins we got in the car i drove the person about 200 feet or so, stopped chatted and then he got out... errors.

the wires should go from the module out the firewall of the passenger side and into the engine bay, then the wires will split n go to its respective areas in the engine bay. all the wires should be covered up in wire looms, so it'll be hard to see where the damage is if it is indeed damaged wires. easiest way is to start from the headlight n trace the wires back to the firewall.

Hey,

I couldn't pinpoint myself. I wound up being a faulty fuse box in the rear believe it or not. Replace it and never had an issue again. I had to go to my guy who's a BMW expert, that opened his own shop.
