Anyone renewing their connect drive subscription?

I purchased my car new and it's seems like the my subscription have expired and it's about $150 a year to get real time traffic info in and the ability to use apps (Pandora) and the connected app.

Is there any way to code these services on permanently or am I stuck renewing every year paying the fee?

Just curious what others are doing bc I do find the service is helpful but truthfully, they should be free...

How are you using google maps, directly off your phone or through the idrive system?

Only RTTI, and only if they repeat the last year sale ($43/year).

I renewed with just the Connected package (remote services, SOS button, BMW Online). Mostly just for the remote services so that I can remotely climatize my car and double check if I locked it, lol.

Didn't bother with RTTI, worked when I didn't need it and didn't work when I did (I thought that was supposed to be free since it uses FM?!?). I installed a carplay/android auto box for and get RTTI/hazards/police with that.

Usually in month of November or late October, BMW connected drive services are discounted $7-$10. Not s big deal from regular price but fyi.

There is an option, however it is similar to stealing cable TV signal))).
Some tricky mechanics could place Chinese box into your car with a spy box where another VIN recorded. With that you will be able to update your Nav maps manually for free (download maps, put on USB and plug into a car), however another possible thing is to get online services for free, including RTTI. Not sure how the box does that assuming all paid VINs are stored on BMW servers, however this trick is very popular in Russia and former soviet republics))).
