Spare Wheel from e53 4.8is to F15?
hi guys
i have the opportunity to get a never used spare wheel from X5 e53 4.8is for free. The problem is that I am not 100% sure that it will fit my F15 35i. according to RealOem.com the wheel fits also X5 F15 M50dX N57X. I don't understand why the other F15's are not supported even though I see that my 20" 551 wheel fits the M50dX as well. the spare wheel details are: 155/80 R19 5.0j R19 ET40 central opening 72.6mm OEM Num: 36116756858 can someone advise me? Your "Center Opening" on the F15 is 74.1mm so you can fit it IF you use a spacer adapter... or simply take it to a machine shop and have them mill the hole out from 72.6 (E53) to 74.1mm (F15)

Ditto...the wheel hub/center bore is what makes the e53 X5 wheels not compatible with the e70 & f15 X5s. (BOO! to BMW for doing this )
I had a set of e53 Style 87 wheels that were going to be wasting away in my shed...but decided to use them for a winter set-up for the f15. I found 15mm hub centric wheel spacers that go from 74.1mm to 72.56mm and purchased 42mm "extended" lug bolts...and will be running those wheels mounted with Yokohama Bluearth V905 performance winter tires this year. Hopefully global warming will keep any deep snowfall this year at bay since I won't be running with the a set of snow/ice winter tires like normal. If theses performance winter tires can't handle the deep snow...then I guess I'll have to roll out the f06 GC since she will have a set of Michelin X-Ice xi3 tires mounted. {rear Style 87 20" wheel going on the f15 using hub-centric wheel spacers to facilitate the hub & center bore difference between the e53 & e70/f15 X5s}

^ this is a backwards adapter. Those are meant to use a large center bore on a smaller center bore vehicle.
You need a spacer/adapter like this: https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3...bolt-kit-15mm/

You scenario is the opposite...you have a wheel that has a smaller center bore that you want to mount on a larger hub. There are spacers that can do this. They have an "inner" diameter that is 74.1mm that fits onto your BMWs wheel hub...but the outer diameter of the spacer is the smaller 72.56mm that will fit the center bore of the e53 X5's wheel: pic 1 This is the side that mounts to your wheel hub and has the larger inner OD (overall diameter) of 74.1mm pic 2 This is the side that your wheel with the smaller 72.56mm center bore will mount to...and the OD on this side of the spacer is 72.56mm: You also need to take the specs of the wheel into account. You have to add the width of the spacer to the wheel's offset so you can determine if the wheel is going to poke out too far...but usually a 6mm/10mm/12mm/15mm spacer will work in regards to e53 wheels on the e70/f15 X5. And you will also need to buy extended bolts that match the extended width of the spacer. The regular bolts for the X5 are usually between 26mm-28mm. So you would add the width of the spacer to whatever length regular bolt you have...and that is the new length the new lug bolts need to be.
