Which oil for '14 X5 sDrive 35i?
Hi, first time ever, low oil light came on today while on highway. I was bringing it to the detail shop 45 min away. Warning message said to add 1 qt of oil. I don't have the owner's manual since it's in the detail shop and I'm finding conflicting info online for the oil SAE. We have different types of synthetic oil at home.
We're picking it up tomorrow and I want to add it before we leave the detail shop. It's almost an hour away. (My husband says it'll be fine without it but I'm not taking a chance on damaging the engine.)

"When selecting an engine oil, ensure that the engine oil belongs to one of the viscosity grades SAE 0W-40, SAE 0W-30, SAE 5W-40, and SAE 5W-30 or malfunctions or engine damage may occur and the oil needs to be BMW Long Life 01 or LL-01 approved."
If you google BMW N55 (which is the engine code for your 14 35i's engine, that can help you find some other info also. Id' check the level via the iDrive and see where it is reading and go from there. Either you are burning ALOT of oil or it was a low fill last oil change and the turbo is burning a bit of oil.
