F10 M5 Brake Project

Snagged these fellas for a deal off ebay last week.

Looking to figure out what else I need to complete the package. Here's what I've got so far that I'll need:

F85/F86 SS Lines
F10 M5 Rotors
Pads
Brackets for Calipers (Need to find a print so I can make them on my CNC)
Brake Fluid

Anything else I'm missing? Do I code it to M-performance brakes?

Might actually wait until my car is out of warranty in Feb.

Total Costs for Project (Last Updated 7/20/20):
F10 M5 F&R Calipers - $1100 (Source: eBay)

- 7/29/20 -

Calipers have arrived! Updated total costs above.

There's a massive thread about this already.

Get ready to drop at least $3000.

I read through that thread several times so I must have missed something. Looks like I can get rotors for ~$800 for a full set. Where's the other $2200 come in?

I think brackets are like $600, Porsche rear calipers $600, refinishing if you don't do it yourself another $600-700, pads another $200-300. It will add up very fast. Why I just decided to go with e70 x5m calipers. Overall same surface rotor and I was done for less than $1250 all in.

Another member did same set up and his overall cost all in was $4500, which I thought was steep but if you got the money, go for it! Lol

Yeah I'd like to keep it reasonable, which is why I started this thread, so maybe I can help other people get it done. The kit I bought has the rear calipers with it already so I don't need the Porsche calipers.

I'll keep updating this thread as I figure more things out.

I don't think those rear calipers work. You need brackets, which is why ppl opt out for Porsche. Could be wrong though. Will like you see end results!

Don't think you can use the rear calipers.

Read through the brake thread again. I’m going to start with looking for the 400mm front rotors. Didn’t realize they were 7lbs lighter than the brakenetic ones. I have plenty of time to rebuild and repaint the calipers.

Just got the package in from ebay. More beat up than I thought, but came with pads for the fronts. Will most likely repaint and rebuild.

M5 rotors are more expensive than the X5m. Been awhile since I looked at cost but you don't have much options for them. Now they are the same calipers as the X5M so if you're gonna make a bracket you can make a completely new one to fit X5 chassis and save a bit there and find more aftermarket options. Rear M5 calipers I don't think work cuz of the integrated parking brake. X5 is different and doesn't utilize that parking brake. So you may still need rear calipers

I’ve just done this mod today. Cost me £1200 total for calipers, brackets & brand new discs.

So I ended up returning these to ebay and grabbing a set of X5M calipers and rotors. However, I'm planning to design/make the brackets necessary to mount these calipers for future people.
