Transmission Fluid and Filter Repalcement

I have a 2017 BMW X5 XDrive35i with 90K milegae and I recently changed the transfer case fluid, because I was getting a jerking/tugging upon acceleration. This seems to have resolved the issue. The fluid was black.

I was wondering if anyone has changed out their transmission fluid and filter with high mileage and had any issuses afterwards? BMW states that the fluid is lifetime and does not mention this as a routine maintenace procedure, which I don't agree with since all fluids breakdown molecularly. I know with other manufactuers when the transmission fluid is changed, this can cause many issues afterwards. I just want to know if anyone has experienced problems after changing this out? Thanks!

Hi,

I was replacing the transmission fluid about 1,5 month ago, I had 167k miles (270k km), the oil was quite messy and dirty. No side effects and no issues afterwards. After the change I've also done the transmission "reset". All working smoothly, maybe even a bit more responsive ( but that could be a placebo).
