Break in mode?

I just heard that M cars have a break in mode that needs to be removed after 1200 miles? I've had my X6M for just over a year, with 8k on the clock, and the dealer never mentioned it. Is it possible that it is still in the break in mode? How can I check?

So I guess if I don't have that, I'm not in break-in mode anymore? Now that you posted it, I vaguely remember seeing this note about inspection when I first got the car.

I hope you had it done too. Supposedly they fine you for a few hundred dollars if you ignore the break in service.

Yes, it was done. If I remember correct, I didn't go specifically for the 1200 mile service, there was some other issue right around that time, so we brought it in and they did both. I gotta find the paper work to see what was done.
