F15 N55 lower charge pipe
For those of you that have been waiting for this. Evolution race works finally put out a lower charge pipe for the F15/N55. Most of us who went stage 1 or stage 2 got the upper charge pipe but the lower was still the plastic one. As far as I know they are the only ones who make it. I've been in contact with them for wel over a year now and it's finally come to fruition. I've attached my invoice so you guys can see the part# and order from your respective dealer. I'll be installing it as soon as I get it. Look forward to upping the boost a bit and having peace of mind.
Let me know if y'all have any questions.

I'm not sure if there are issues. I just have felt it when I did my fmic swap and it's plastic so for me it's a peace of mind thing since I plan on upping the boost.

Any advice would be appreciated on the FMIC as well as the ER lower charge pipe. |

So I received my lower intercooler pipe. Just thought I'd give you some feedback Everything looked good. Went to install and there were few things that didn't line up the best way. The tabs that go in the intercooler are slightly off compared to where you would want leading to the pipe not resting centered. On the top side. Also it's seems the pipe is slightly shorter than OEM which was a non issue. The issue arose when installing it with the tabs so much so that it's tilted and so low that a proper flat seal into the intercooler is not possible. The radiator hose seems to be in the way of where it would need to go to let it sit flush and there is no other way to route that hose to the overfill tank. I have attached some pics to better show where the problem lays. The bends going up all looked great. I feel like if the tabs were shifted slightly to turn pipe slightly inward, it would alleviate this problem. I've tried everything the last two days to get this done but seems like it's a game of inch's and I ran out of room.

Also for everyone's SA. If you don't also have the ER upper charge pipe you'll need to continue to use the VRSF rubber boot and trim it to get it to the correct size. Vrsf upper charge pipe is a lot bigger than the ERs so the rubber boot they sent doesn't fit the vrsf upper.

I have a Wagner Tuning Intercooler and have been having frequent problems with the factory LIC pipe popping off at the intercooler. I went with the ER LIC to see if I could remedy the problem. Although not listed on their website when I ordered it a few weeks ago when I saw another forum member mention that it was finally released. I spoke with Fred in ER’s CS. He was able to get an aluminum finish out to me quickly. The polished and black anodized weren’t in stock yet. In regards to fit, the ER is similar in shape, but appears to be a little shorter. Overall, good quality. A user above mentioned some play/sitting not as tight in the intercooler. I agree with that as well. There is a little more play/gap than I expected once the c clip is installed. However I yanked the hell out of it pulling from above and I couldn’t get it to pop out. My plastic factory version popped out easily and I even replaced the original oem LIC with a new oem LIC. I’ll be honest and say I think the connection issue between the intercooler and ER lic is error on Wagner’s end. I had one of the earliest units when released 2 years back and Wagner contacted me to return it and they shipped me a replacement before installation. The first few were machined incorrectly to match the correct c clip connection. I have a feeling the intercooler was machined a little more than needed or doesn’t match the exact specs of factory. So far I have been able to push it hard and no popping off. Running a JB4 on map 5, ER downpipe, Wagner intercooler, MPPK oem tune, and mpe exhaust. Boost is running at about 16 lbs and no issues yet.

I've installed a VRSF fmic on my x5 recently and those charge pipe connections were a pain. The inside diameter of vrsf in/outlet were about 1.5mm tighter than than the stick FMIC so the it would push the O ring out upon install and not allow the pipes to sit far enough to clip. The in/outlet pipes would install and clip easily without O ring in place.
To remedy, I used some sand paper on a drill bit to open up the ID and was able to install the in/outlet pipes. Still had to position it at a perfect angle to get the pipes to seat/clip but it worked. |

I email ER some tips for future pipe. Really it's moving the notches about 1/8 in to rotate LIC inboard and I think that'll fix any fitment issues.

I installed the ER Charge pipes and was still having the same problem. As soon as I get in boost, the LIC pops loose from the inter cooler. The solution was a vanjen clamp as the picture attached. It is being put back into my car right now. This should be the solution. Still less expensive that the Wagner FMIC, but I honestly wish I had bought that one. The VSRF is not built to the same tolerance as everything else. It is just a little off. |
