That's what mines just costed. It got replaced last Wednesday by Safelite at my job. $1200 job with rain sensor and HUD is exactly what it costed.

You'll have to ask BMW about that... If you look on RealOEM.com, you'll see the Windshield has different codes depending on wether you have optionals like ACC, Driving Assistant, Driving Assistant Plus, HUD, Climate Confort etc. |

The problem is the HUD option. Head-up display S610A=Yes => No climatic Option. HUD + 2 orifices (rain sensor and KAFAS camera) => windscreen 51317292402 For HUD and no KAFAS = part # 51317292400 No HUD => more part #, for +/- KAFAS camera and +/- climatic option. So the HUD +/- Kafas (that can have many functions) is the main problem. KAFAS can be used for Trafic Drive Assistant, Road Sign + pedestrian functions and auto brake. |

Interesting conversation. I have Geico and have all the options as well HUD and Active cruise control. This is my 3rd windshield for the last 100k miles... I have a 250$ deductible and have Autogalss install an OEM BMW Windshield every time, you only have to request it and they have always approved it... No problems here. We have a lot of road construction in Houston as you can tell lol

Yeah the dealership and others do charge an arm, leg and neck sometimes. I did get it estimated and found one guy who actually did my wife's car said he'd replace mine with a non OEM but a regulated glass for a little over $300. So far the brand he used on my wife's is going strong so as long as its clean and good workmanship, I'll eventually do mine as well as I have a 8 inch crack on my window currently. And safelite did try to stop it. And it was ugly.
