4.0Diesel loss of power/no kick down-FIXED

So yesterday I went for a car wash and on the way back after getting on freeway I tried to hit it hard but nothing....... the car did not downshift to get RPMs over 3k, kick down did not work. Was very lazy.

Looking at the sport gauges where it shows torque and HP all went to half max. No errors, nothing. Sport mode made no difference either.... the power was not there. Could not revv it over 3k when in gear. Was able to do so in neutral though.

so turned the car off for 30 mins, went back in and all was fine. gave a her a hard ride on the highway and the power was back, all ok.

any ideas??? perhaps a water in some of the sensors? car thought it was cold so was in some easy modus??

anyone??

Power reduction should store faults - everything stock? Any changes recently - tires/wheels....

so the car is in for diagnostic.
do you guys know if the proper diagnostic can tell a lot? meaning if they go to detail especially when the instrument cluster actually says nothing at all?

Odd issue for sure, especially since it's sporadic. I had a similar issue with mine, turned out to be a wastegate issue and the turbo was replaced under warranty. Very much became a safety issue, where the vehicle would literally fall on its face and loose all power. Keep us posted on the dealer's findings.

so fixed:
main engine air intake valves was faulty.
changed under warranty (about 1k$ part)
obviously a weak part as they had it on stock right away

Pretty cool that the power is reduced to protect the engine from whatever the problem maybe. This is the way it was designed.

not so sure about this as if this was the case (protection mode) it should come with a warning light on the idrive, which it did not at all........
