X5 Changing??
So just when I am ready to buy an X5, I hear its changing?!?! Not a mid-cycle refresh, but a complete change due to the upcoming X7. Is this true or just a rumor?
I am sure you guys have discussed this to death... |

F15 will have a slightly shorter lifetime
G05 will replace it in the calendar year 2018 at about the same time or a littler after the G07 X7 is launched.

you're looking a 2018 MY and if you want a real life vehicle to gauge what a new x5 will look like use the newest 7series as a silhouette which will share similar design cues... however if you're not as imaginative as most and need more then this mule should give some ridiculously vague idea:

Prototypes are already running around. Some estimates are that it will be shown with the X7 late 2017 and dealers will get it early 2018. Or it will be shown just after the X7 and dealers will get it mid 2018. F15 lifetime is reduced compared to usual model runs..

Exactly. The next model year, the next generation, the next mid cycle update, the next iDrive update, the next new thing is always just over the horizon.

If it takes the looks from the new 7-series, then I dont mind having a F15 instead. This car looks downsized and weird, nothing as muscular as the outgoing 7-series. They did this to the 3-series aswell with the mid cycle facelift.
And then Audi did it too to A8 and Q7. And Kia made the Sorento look weaker. I dont know if it has to do with trends appealing to feminists or whatever... |

I just got 2017 having info of a new model confirmed. New X5 even when it comes out might have glitches (most likely), so waiting for it and adding another year was not what i wanted knowing the trade-in of the (then) current car would be less. Looked into RRSport now with heads up display and other new toys. RRS HUD looks like the one I had in E71, so new option already outdated. So 2nd F15 already and i can say that idrive 5.0 really makes a difference and you feel like u r at least in a facelifted (LCI) car. I would get F15 again.

My insider that works for BMW HQ Confirmed with me G05 X5 start of production for 8/2018. Going by history I would NEVER buy the first model year car because there are always bugs to work out. Especially those produced in SC.
The F15 was no exception with the forums plagued with CEL issues even on the drive home from the dealership! Alan |

No info on that but assuming 8/18 SOP for the G05 is accurate that means it will be sold as a 2019 model. I would assume the X5M will be at least 1 year behind as a 2020 model
