Martens and EGR codes, any correlation?

So unfortunately, my X5 was finally found by the local stone marten population and I noticed this large hole in the back of the engine compartment (big problem with these critters around here.)

Simultaneously, up popped a CEL with the following code: P241F EGR Cooler "B" Efficiency Below Threshold.

I took a few photos of the marten chew-toy hole.

Is there anything back there that might have led to this error code? Vehicle has 56,000 km.
Thanks!

Probably not a result unless they damaged the vacuum line to the aux. EGR cooler. It is located on the exhaust manifold at the rear. The bypass flap may not be working or broken.

Pick up some martien repellant and spray around your car....don't want them coming back after it's fixed.
