Minimum of 10% off IMO. Key thing to look into is when the car was punched/put into service. It's technically a used car so your buddy will not get any incentives or extra rebates like CCA $1K, etc. Use that to his advantage to negotiate. Depending on how particular he is about the condition of the paint, he should go over the car in the sunlight and make sure they correct any defects as part of the deal. Not a lipstick detail job, but paint correction if it's needed.

Should be in the 8-12% range off their price.

What is it being advertised for currently? That'll determine how much more to negotiate. For comparison, before I bought my car, there was a fully loaded demo 35d that had 3K miles (used by the GM's wife) that they were advertising for 10% off before any negotiations. Knowing that it was a daily driver, toting kids around car, they were motivated for sure. It sold pretty quickly, though. It was gone the same week I bought my CBlack.

Demo is considered as a new car with less time on the warranty hence the discount. Usually about 10-12% is negociable. But since so low on miles I think 9-10% sounds about right.
