As more and more members of the forum have the M performance brake kit installed, I'm yet to see a review of "how it feels". Couldn't care less about the looks (you can't see those brakes/calipers when driving anyway), but it's really interesting to hear how the upgraded brakes feel compared to the standard ones. I.e. - do the standard ones fade a lot faster after a number of heavy breaking situations or what (I believe the M performance fade as well since these are not "proper" carbon ceramic brakes from Brembo/etc we're talking about here)? Does the difference justify the price for the package or you can barely feel it?

Sorry, I haven't gotten around to dropping my .02 cents about these upgraded brakes. I do notice an improvement in how the brake pedal feels since I had them installed. There's more of an "immediate" bite compared to before to the point where they are confidence inspiring. I feel that it will be there when I need it. No more sponginess compared to the stock setup. And I do feel that they're quite strong especially from high speeds. I haven't had a chance to see how it performance under repeated hard stops yet however but I will be sure to write about it when I do. I have an extended road trip coming up.

Jason, do you know the best place to purchase the full front/rear M performance brakes kit?

Yup...getbmwparts.com which is fairly close to you. They had the best price I'd ever seen for this brake kit.

Impressive build, and all in good taste.

Can I ask what camera/lens was used for the pics on page one? The quality is impressive to say the least.

I see the M Performance Exhaust is $1250 (w/out tips). Are you able to reuse your tips or do you have to purchase the new tips [EDIT: Just saw you can reuse the tips so long as you have the MSport Pack]? GetBMWParts has the exhaust and tips for $1450.

Has anyone had the exhaust installed at the VDC or is it still a dealer install? How much should I figure for the install of the exhaust?

Also interested in the PPK for $1095 (as per GetBMWParts), any ideas on install costs for the kit?

HarisG, my car was built with them. I had some friends at the factory override the North America market options.

Probably makes no difference at all in reality especially at the speeds these cars are driven day-to-day however I suppose someone who lives in the mountains might benefit from the improved resistance to fading.

Yes, they might look better than the 'standard' brakes and 90% of the people who fit them are not really interested in whether or not they provide and real performance benefit so long as they look good! (read the majority of replies to the posts - "wow - looks great" etc.)

These add-on 'upgrades' are just expensive cosmetic trinkets (in my opinion) I can see the point in spending big bucks on 'proper' brakes / lowered suspension on a car that might be used for track days tho' on a two tonne truck - why bother?

Can someone who has fitted these performance brake kits tell me if there's any change made to the standard brake master cylinder...generally, when upgrading brake systems, the calipers and master cylinder's volume and pressure must be known and accounted for - you know (P1×V1 = P2×V2) just bolting on big rotors and bright colored multi-piston calipers is only half the story.

As for lowering a 4x4 (sorry SUV) - don't get me started.

Yup, it's separate. You can either use the stock black one or the CF one. I retained the use of the stock black trim and used just the faceplate with the ///M logo. Seems ridiculous that BMW doesn't sell these two parts separately.
