Consumer reports review of 2014 BMW X5

Just got my June 2014 copy of Consumer Reports magazine in the mail. They finally reviewed the new X5. It is rated as the highest in its category of Luxury midsized/large SUVs. (above MB GL350, Acura MDX, Range Rover HSE and Sport, etc.). Headline of the article: BMW X5 outpaces the Range Rover Sport to top the luxury class. Very favorable review from a source that is reasonably fair about ratings.

Interestingly, this link to the review video online seems to paint a little less favorable of a picture:

Nevertheless, they seem to like it and appreciate most of what it has to offer.

I found it interesting they were only able to achieve a 0-60 time of 7.4 with the 35i. Everything I've read up to this point has been 5.9 to 6.1 seconds.

Simple answer on that one: their time is just plain wrong. Remember consumer reports is one of the least likely to care about performance. They are more into quality, poshness, fit and finish, and cost to own. I would say sporty and luxury cars are not their strong area, but rather "best buys" for the masses.
