X5 35i ///M line double or single exhaust?

So I just got a '16 X5 35i a couple months ago. Now that its getting colder out, I noticed that the "dual" exhaust only comes out of the driver side tip and absolutely nothing comes from the passenger tip. Is this normal and did BMW just give the X5 dual tips when only one actually functions? I guess they could have done it for design purposes to make it look symmetrical, but I expected more from BMW to put a faux exhaust tip on such a great vehicle.
Does anyone have the exhaust coming out of both tips?

There is a flap on the right side that opens up the second exhaust at higher RPMs.

Ah that makes sense. I never noticed because I couldn't see it while in higher RPMs. Thanks

If it bothers you that much you can pay $1,000+ for a M performance exhaust like I did...

Or for 1000 less you can just do the flapper mod so it stays open all the time and sounds better, but not M performance good!

A couple weeks ago I put 50 tips on my 35 X line that has mppk, no mpe. The sound is more deep and the right side pipe is constantly open at startup under acceleration and in comfort or sport.

Whoa?!?! Changing tips ALONE resulted in a change in tone and the flap stays open???

You need to get the MPE tip kit.
Let me know if you want to get it. I can get the tip painted gloss black also.

The MPE tip doesn't have the flap, that's why.

I'd imagine the original tips would have to be put back on upon lease turn in.

Ah, so not just a tip replacement proper. The tip assembly comes with some section of pipe that gets attached to the muffler past where the flap would normally be. Now it makes sense.

They look OEM to me... I don't think the CA would even notice the difference when returning the car.

Correct, as long as they are oem, they won't care. It is your loss.
