Actually, it's the other way around. For 5 blinks you code 04.

Sorry that's right. I had it mixed up and didn't even know that the updated SW changed the values also.

Well, you would code 04 for 5 blinks under the older version. If you have the new version, try the new values listed a few posts above.

Has anyone had any luck with coding the anti dazzle led lights on a 2017? I removed 5AP and 8S4 from the FA/VO and VO coded BDC_BODY, KAFAS2 and both FLE ECUs. After that I used the cheat codes to do part 2.

Do you need to wait a period after coding for the car to updated? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

It works immediately. Make sure you are using correct cheat codes.

I just end up updating my Launcher Cheat Codes for values.
Also, if you have ID5, code H-H2: 5_FACH_TIPPBLINKEN = 01

Section are not important. Funktions move around all the time. Use Cheat Codes or search.

Thought you had to select a 'section' before search ? Or can you search from the root?

You can search entire CAFD. It will even prompt to start over at beginning if run out of results.

Yea I get that , but you need to be in the correct CAFD in the first place, Body etc?

Obviously it would not be wise to search in the trunk module for blinker settings. Unless you are just asking for way to search all ECU's vs individual NCD.

Is there a way? Not everything is in the obvious place, sorry for seeming thick, just starting out here

Maybe a stupid question but I see these printscreens of adjusting this in the idrive menu itself. How do you enable these?

No need to apologize. Questions are good and always wise to ask, if you are unsure; especially when you are working on an expensive machine. I was just asking for clarification on where you are struggling. I will attempt to address both potential queries, but let me know if things are still not clear.

There is no direct way, of which I am aware, to search entire vehicle (ie across multiple ECU's). As an aside, you could do the following if you really wanted:
  1. Load each CAFD in FDL-Editor
  2. File --> "Save as FWL..." (this exports FDL's as readable list)'
  3. Copy and paste text into one document
  4. Then you could search all ECU's at once.
Though, the Cheat Sheets tell you exactly in which module each function lies. So, the most important columns are the following:
  • Description: So you know what you are coding
  • Module: So you know which CAFD to open in FDL-Editor
  • Function Value: so you know which name to search
  • New Value: so you know how to modify
Plus, coding is hardware specific; this relates to both the ECU modules as well as exterior hardware, like headlamps. So, it is important to use correct Cheat Sheet. For example, in an F015, do not look for Fem_Body (used in F20/F3x/F83) or try to code headlamp settings in BDC_Body for vehicle with Xenons or LED's (use LHM/TMS or FLE instead). Additionally, functions are grouped in ECU's for the actions they control (see attached). Consequently, as long as your know basically what functions to code and the CAFD_ID's (from memory, saved SVT, or my CAFD_ID's PDF), you should be able to find what you desire.

You also should be using Launcher Cheat Codes

You can see the menu item in IDrive or you are asking how to code HU_NBT2 to allow you to select and scroll to toggle desired number?

See the menu item... Is it coming automatically when you've enabled the coding (will do this this week )

Almaretto , PM me your email address, I'll add you into the cheatsheet so you can update on your new finding on iDrive5.0.
I did found a few items over the weekend too, I will update by the end of the week or earlier if I can catch up with work.

How do you find new items? Is it just trial and error? Or is there an established safe procedure for this?

There are a number of means to find new items. Some codes are active, from factory, in newer firmware or different countries; in that case, it is simple comparing of files. Other times it is understanding vehicle architecture (eg, XPath). Unless you are meddling with things like integrated chassis management or changing things blindly, it is relatively safe and can always be reverted. Plus I have dealer-level diagnostic and programming software.

I have vehicle files from every Fxx- / Ixx- / Gxx-series BMW.

What I did, I read it one by one and translate from German to English.
And play around with it.

Is there a definitive way to determine which modules need coding after a VO change. I am adding 5A1 to my VO so I know I need to code BDC but how do I know if any related modules need coding?
