No change in sound at all since the pipe is an open pipe after the silencer, so it is just a cosmetic job

Keep things in balance, your car is not an M Sport so keep it clean with the retrofit size pipes. It just look perfect and not out of place in your car.

Just wanted to get some perpective. From the photo of the 35d valance it appears it could accommodate a much larger tips. I'm not trying to make my car look like an MSport just like I'm sure you're not trying to make your car look like an X5M with the side mirror retrofit, right? It's pure aesthetics that is all. But thanks.

I'm pretty sure the M Sport tips fit into the rear valance, since the hole is pretty big

Ok I have the m sport tips that came with a mpe i bought. I have the 35 x line and had the 50 rear valance installed with the 50 rectangular trapezoid shape that is in above picture. This was installed prior to getting the mpe just to rid the ugly round exhaust pipes. I just measured the m sport and placed it against the 50 pipe and it definitely fits. The m sport is about 4 1/8 high and about 7.5 inch wide. The question is once it is in the cutout if it looks "balanced" centered and aligned to the cut out or if it looks askew in height or width. Also I didn't notice if the pipe is any different in length or shape to exhaust muffler.

One more point, the 50 tip tapers from small width to wide. The cut out follows that shape. M sport tip tapersfrom large width to smaller width. So one would need to install m sport upside down from what should be OEM to follow the integrity of the 50 valance cut out.

Here is a pic from a member that had the 50 tips installed upside down (wide tapering thinner) as you see if the m sports were put on that way (which is how they should be when on a m sport x5 with m sport valance) it would look strange.

Thx knepsterd. I didn't know you get the tips with an mpe.

I totally forgot about this thread. I remember reading that the dealer installed it backwards. But upon switching the tips, it looks real good.

Update: if you use the m sport tips they will fit in the 50 rear balance cut outs and in alignment ONLY installed upside down. The problem there is the dummy plug for the valve would now be on the driver side not passenger side where it needs to be plugged in. I'll defer to someone possibly Ben if not plugging the valve connector from the car into the dummy will cause an error or poor performance.

I don't want to take off my 50 tips yet. Can someone do a photoshop of the m port upside down in a 50 valance?

Correct. Not looking to be an x5m if i wanted that i will go to the dealer here and buy one.
But then i will have to sell my M4.

Lol, Agree. I'd keep the M4 (if I had one) versus getting an X5M. Unless I suddenly win the powerball then I'll have a stable full of "toys."

That's right. I wonder if you could get your local muffler shop reweld that module to the other side.

When I get beck home I'll look at connector. The plug part might actually be held on to pipe with screws so could trick it if I could take off connector piece and then use plastic ties to hold in place. Standby.
