Problem with Multi-contour (Luxury) Seats coming loose

The piece of the seat, beneath the knees, keeps coming loose from the bottom. This is happening on both the driver and passenger seats.

It is simple enough to reach under and reclip the lip of the leather cover back to the seat, but I can feel the clips getting less and less tight.

Yes, I am going to take it to the dealership. Before I do I am curious to hear whether others are having this issue?

I don't recall which car it was (so can't say for sure if it was with or without MC seats..), but one of the BMW's I've had did have the same issue. Seems BMW needs to invest in better clips… I recall it being more around the calf though, very bottom, not the seat extension under the thighs.

Put that warranty to use. Until it runs out, it's not your problem. It's theirs.

I have EXACTLY the same issue on the multi-contour seats. Just have not had time to take it to the dealership yet.

I had an E61 535i that did that too. The dealer always took care if it.

Yup, same problem here on the driver side. Haven't had a chance to take it in yet and it doesn't appear the driver side even has the clip for it to attach to...

Thanks for the replies everyone. Even though it is a stupid problem to have I am somewhat comforted that I'm not the only one experiencing it.

Like Bigtop, I just haven't had the time to take it in. However, it is barely noticeable so it is far from the end of the world.

You should bring it back to the dealer and get it taken care.
It is weird that it happens on both side.

Had the same problem. I tried reattaching the leather to the clips twice, but it kept coming loose. The fix that worked was bending the metal tabs that are next to the clips so they hold the leather in place. Our seat only had this problem on the driver's side.

WOW what a comment, this is why quality is going down the drain. People accept things like lambs and fix it themseles. If I pay 200000 euros for a car, the seats popping out is an unacceptable thing. Actually not acceptable in any car at any price.

Sorry for you , 120 000 Euros its just government support .

I prefer to spend time with my family instead of wasting time on dealership .

At least when supporting the government in Finland one might say it's the money well spent, which cannot be said of many other governments (some not so far from Finland, actually ).

I understand it popping up once and fixing it, but not all the time, Then its a faulty seat and should be replaced by bmw. Where do You draw the line. What if Next the door Plastic falls off or cupholder doesnt Hold in place, should You repair all of Them yourself. If You get a check Engine light and it disappears When restarting, but Comes back once a week, do You just restart? I Hate When Something doesnt Work and I take it To the dealer until They Fix it. That's Why I Pay for 6 years warranty, its useless unless You use it Then again My Cars Work.

Minäkin tykkään viettää aikaa lasten kanssa, mutta en ärtyneenä irtoavista penkeistä

Have to agree here. I am not one to say we should have to live with this or that. At any price, things should work.. BUT, you learn to pick your battles in life. Perfection doesn't exist...

Luckily no one is having a problem with the seats popping out. I believe that feature is exclusive to the Aston Martin DB5 with option package 007.

There is a big difference between the seat popping out and a clip on a trim piece coming loose.

"People accept things like lambs and fix it themseles." Is somone more of a "lamb" for spending 50 seconds and fixing an easy problem rather than wasting a several hours taking their car to a BMW service center?

Same issue on my February delivery X5. That and the exhaust is 1/2" lower on one side then the other. As for fixing it ourselves... I snapped it in place twice and third time it goes to the dealer.

Are you referring to the Aston Martin seat that actually works as it was designed to? The OP's seat is faulty, or do you think that seat works as a "luxury" seat should, or is there a fault you just choose to ignore.

My comment was a reaction to a post stating that all people who dont fix these themselves have to left hands, please dont take it out of context. In my opinnion that post was BS and flaming. How can BMW fix a fault if they are not aware of it? Why should I tolerate a fault, just because you do?

I am truly sorry if your country has hours long queues, we have rapid service, so no problem leaving the keys at the dealer.

Now if this would happen out of warranty, I wouldnt pay the extra money. I would just fix it myself.

Signing out of this thread. Keep fixing the seat yourself if you want to, just dont disrespect people who choose not to tolarate a manufacture/design fault.

Took mine into the dealership to have the loose leather put back. Also the side bolsters that hug you when you start the car on driver's seat are not working. They have to order some parts from Germany to fix the seat.
