Great news! Yesterday, BMW announced the return of the Multiple Security Deposit Rate Reduction Program for leases through BMW dealers in the Eastern Region, Florida, and Hawaii.

So what? You could earn more money on that MSD money than you'd save by loaning it to BMW by simply putting it into a low yield investment like bonds. I looked into doing MSDs on a BMW lease a decade ago and they made no sense to me then and still don't. They simply don't decrease the rate enough for it to be worthwhile.

I am not sure how you looked at it but I can tell you that I have been using max MSDs on my last three leases and the return on the money I lend to BMW has consistently been around 9-10% after tax which you can't replicate with any low yield safe investments. I think on average I save $70 a month or $840 a year vs. MSDs of $8,400.
