If we had an extra $200k laying around I would get the x6 M for my better half and an x5 M for myself.

No. The comparison spec on the first page says 567hp (F85) vs 555hp (E70)
But that's wrong since the E70 isn't 555hp, it's 555PS which is 547hp.

There's a difference between the hp and the metric horsepower PS.
THe F85 is 575PS, that's the same as 567hp.

So comparison engine spec should have said 575 PS vs 555PS or 567hp vs 547hp.

The X6M is really nice. Btw am I the only one who noticed that the xDrive is adjustable to 100% to the rear?! Is this something that the previous model had?

this is not the S63tu engine but perhaps a modified S63 engine? press release is fairly ambiguous...

Wow, great effort BMW!
Love the Long beach blue on the X6M, it makes it stand out.
Pretty much what i expected, but both look better than i thought initially.
I need to test the F16, looks so angry and mean.

Looking sweet, but very little exterior difference to our X5 M50d! Wouldn't mind some wider hips like the M3 has compared to an ordinary 3-series to make it stand out just a little bit extra. Otherwise, I'm loving it, especially the new grey color!

The front bumper has sharp angles more reminiscent of a Japanese manufacturer and it seems that the only way that they could think of distinguishing the M models was with funky seats. But I still bet this will sell like gangbusters, especially with the cost of WTIC.
I am a Cayenne owner, and I have to laugh a bit at your criticism. Pretty much the overriding complaint on most of the Cayenne boards is that it looks too Japanese / Korean.

Porsche has PDK on the base Macan, but an 8 speed auto on all Cayenne's. So it's not really unexpected or disappointing.

The bloody thing does 0-60 mph in 4s (probably underrated too) yet they're complaining it's 8AT vs DCT? Hmm, weird.

I think this is really when we start seeing that AT's are getting to the point where they are better than DCT. To those complaining, until you've driven the car, how would you know?

X5 M and X6M are the fastest cars in its segment !
0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds !!!
M = Power and Perfection !!!!!

I do not understand people who wanted a 7-speed transmission, if adjusted BMW 8-speed box for a brutal performance, the engine produces more torque and also destroy performance Cayenne, Macan and ML63 AMG complete with rivals using Box 7 changes, I think the protesters should be proud of the excellent work done with these M.

I'm with you that an auto suits a truck like these two much better than a DCT. That said, I do not agree that a crawl feature is a good thing. Tried it on a 981 and hated it. I love that our cars go into neutral and stay that way when you come to a full stop.

There's a reason that Porsche pulled it (and a couple of the other "convenience" dual-clutch features) from the version of the PDK equipped on the GT3.

Crossbank manifolds was one of the key improvements of the S63tu over the S63, I recall. And the press release lists this as a feature of the X5M/X6M engines fwiw.
