So, obviously they won't fix something that's not there at the time you bring it in. However!! There's one instance in which they will. Turns out there's a repair bulletin for this very issue. My service rep has heard of these issues in M5s and M6s. He is having the repair kit overnighted and they will address it in the am. As for specifics, I don't have any right now. I'll provide more information when I have it tomorrow.
Awesome, yes please provide any follow up you can. Appreciate it. Of course I torqued all the wheel lugs to 103 and it didn't do squat. I can hear it on high speed turns too, with the wheel turned at a decent angle, with the windows open next to a wall or something (so the sound can reflect). Bizarre.

I had a clicking noise from day one, one that was omnipresent when driving. The faster I would go, it would speed up. The steering clicking recently came along, apparently the issues are linked. Getting it fixed in about 2 weeks. They fixed the brake noise, but a day later they were squeaking again. So not sure what to expect with this clicking. More concerned about people saying these N63 engines gathering oil sludge.

That's what happened for me. Initially it was just the left wheel clicking on rotation, without turning.

Then, the noise stopped from happening while driving, and only happens with turning, on both sides.

I wouldn't worry about sludge so long as you drive it fairly aggressively, fairly routinely. My understanding is our tendency to not drive these machines routinely at higher revs, engineered for consistent higher revs, is what can lead to problems. So just drive it like you stole it PS and some change the oil and more frequent intervals, too.

Very true, and avoid short trips where the engine doesn't come up to operating temp for a good bit of time. Not doing that is a key way to build oil issues. If you do take a lot of short trips with a colder engine, change your oil more frequently, and you should be fine.

As promised here's a pic of the work order / repair bulletin that my service adviser found immediately after describing the issue.

She's too tough for scissors ! A cutoff wheel and 5 minutes to take the top off like the pic below to see their pipe routing. Vegas bet is it looks very similar to the E70.

Thanks for posting that bulletin. So it is a 'spacer' of some form as I was told.

Looks like it keeps the two surfaces from twisting and pinging the bolts. Friction gasket to stop the twist.

Yup. Or you can buy a Tesla and then you won't have to worry about it...

Thanks Ryngo - that's super helpful. I guess I better schedule the appt. The idea of the mating surfaces sliding around and putting stress on the lugs (if that is what is happening?) is disturbing. You already had the work done? It took a full day, I assume?

Thx again

Yea no problem buddy. I did have the work done. I don't know if I would be so disturbed. Apparently it's a relatively common thing and it's not just on our car but prone to occur on ///M cars. My service advisers non technical description was that two separate pieces were eeeeeever so slightly pinging against each other on cornering. I can ask for a brief written description of what the techs understanding is. If I hear it ever again I'll post it up here. For me though - the only time I ever hear it is after I've been driving aggressively on the back country roads. Don't know if that's because it's break heat related or hard cornering. Anyway - yea I guess it took a half a day. Repair kit was overnighted Monday into Tuesday. I got call at 1:00pm that my car was done.

Day 2: On way home from work detoured through windy roads ripping the car around ... that will usually get the clicking to come out ... not a single hint of the sound. So far so good.

My dealer is going to fix it. But they are waiting for the parts. It's currently back ordered from Germany and it's going to be a least mid May before they receive it. Guys with this wheel bearing issues, did you need to wait that long?

Interesting. Mine were ordered and overnighted. Had them in less than 24 hours.
