Loud and rough ride with 20s
We have a '18 X5 with the 20" wheel and tires. Really didn't want them, but that's what we had to do to make our deal work. Dealer was not willing to swap them with 19s.
Now 3,000 miles later I really can't stand them. They are so loud and the ride is rough. Certainly this is not the ride of a 70k car. What are my (realistic) options? Certainly not everyone can be happy with these... |

+1 on the DWS06. I have them now, but didn't think the Pirellis were that bad. The reason for switching wasn't due to the harsh ride, it was because of the winters in NYC and needing an A/S tire.

Make sure your tire pressure is set correctly. High tire pressure will make the ride rough.

Post them up and try to trade them for 19”, I’m sure someone local with a x5 and 19” wheels would do it and it would save the hassle of shipping wheels if a deal can be done . Though all the guys suggesting to swap out the RFT are right it will definitely ride better , but you will need to carry tire gue / compressor or spare kit.

Just took delivery of my X5 with the 20” 469M wheels and immediately swapped the tires out for the DWS06 at my local shop. Since the Pirelli run flats are more expensive he did it free of charge. Bumps are WAY better now than they were during the short time I had the Pirellis on. My friend has Pirellis with Adaptive M suspension and my car feels better on bumps with the standard suspension.

I didn’t notice any difference going from stock 19” w/ RF to 20” with Toyo non RF.

What do the stock 19" wheels cost?
My wife curbed one of the wheels (superficial, but marred), especially easy to do given how exposed the rim is with the Pirelli tires. Saw an X5 with Bridgestone 20s and they were not as exposed. |

Hey Jo - Can you PM the shop that swapped the tires out? I am set to pick up my new 2018 in 10 days. Would love to coordinate this, so I can drive straight to the shop, swap'em out, and be on my way. Thanks again! |

Just a heads up he swapped em out for me because the broker I got the car from sends all of his customers to this shop. He will probably charge around $100 I think

I would also join the suggestion of DWS change. If you want the 19s though I have a near perfect set with brand new tires sitting here, more than happy to trade.
