X5 2016 edrive 40e carbon on exhaust tail pipe

Hi, can someone please tell me why my X5 has a black carbon layer only on inside of the left side exhaust tail pipe. The right hand side is as if not been used and the chromium finish is seen.

Thanks

If the 40e is anything like the exhaust on my 16 35i xDrive, only exhaust comes from the driver's side tailpipe - the other opening is simply faux.

From what I have seen, mainly one tailpipe is used, but under very hard acceleration, both tailpipes will "open". I have always found this so strange with modern BMWs!

My 35i has been coded to constantly have the other exhaust pipe open via the EWG so now I have carbon on both tailpipes plus a nice subtle exhaust note while driving

I also believe when you move the drive selector over to Sport then the actuator will open on the passenger side as well.
When I run out of battery I move to Sport and change the drive selector to Sport to get max regeneration. Both my exhaust outlets are covered in carbon.
