2014 X5 sdrive 35i Vibration at Idle
Hey guys, so I recently had the spark plugs and valve cover gasket replaced on my wife's X5 and we are now experiencing a vibration at idle in both park and in drive/reverse. The vibration seems to be slightly worse when in gear.
The car seems to idle at what looks to be around 600rpm? However upon accelerating or simply increasing RPM's as little as 250-500rpm, the vibration dissipates. Any idea what the culprit could be? No CEL or anything. Thank you in advance!

There might be a misfire that would cause a vibration, but not too bad to cause CEL. Did you change coils as well? I would check if there is any misfire, because I had the same issue.

Ran a scan and no misfire or anything. Wondering if the cause could be a bad bushing or engine mount even? It's just strange that it is only at idle rpm's

It could be, but you didn't have any vibration before changing plugs and valve cover right? Also I would make sure there is no air leak, however, I was told that even a small air lear will cause a CEL.

Has anybody changed their engine mounts themselves? How tough is the job?

Seems like the motor mount is starting to weaken/collapse probably on the passenger side

Yes it did. Very much so. However, a good amount of noise and vibration when the AC is running. Might look into that as well

I just ordered the mounts and will replace them soon. Did you DIY or bring it to a shop? I also noticed vibration from the AC when it is on, is it the AC compressor going bad or just the mounting is getting loose?

It’s not a ton of vibration but it’s noticeable

Just an update...I installed a pair of new aftermarket mounts a couple of weeks ago and the idle vibration is completely gone! e70 mounts are the same part number for many of the aftermarket brands so check ebay for deals. I got both motor and trans mount as a kit for $80 shipped.
