I'm ready for the Nor'easter Snow coming from Alaska!!!
Lmao!! When ever it comes to NJ. Put my Winter Wheels/Tires on today, love the ride with no RFT. Wheels came from Tire Rack cost $149.00 and I had 20" Blizzacks installed on them.

Yep, it's definitely Mineral White .
@jpsjr70: Joe, your car looks solid even with those wheels/tires. I hope they handle great for you this coming winter. It reminds me of an old school BMW wheel.

Wheels look great!
I was looking at those in 21" Gunmetal (Figure I can at least look good in a snow storm) with the Pirelli's and Tire rack pre installing their own aftermarket TPMS. This would save me from having to go through the effort of locally mounting everything. Any reason you went with the OEM instead of the TireRack TPMS pre installed? |

Batm4n thanks! Wasn't to comfortable using Tire Rack's tpms, plus I don't want to have issues with BMW if I bring in to service. I'm sure it's a crazy thought, lol. I'm sure you will enjoy the 21" wheels, but reconsider such a big wheel in the winter months. Good Luck!

Thanks, bud. My X5 is currently in the shop being wrapped. I dropped it off yesterday evening; it will take about 4-5 days to complete everything. The CF interior is being done first. The steering wheel is already done. My buddy and I installed that together about 4 days ago. It's one heck of a wheel. Once everything is finished, I'll post a new thread with pics and even a DIY on the steering wheel removal and install for those of you who want to change or attempt to change yours .

Would these tires fit on stock BMW 20" tires?
Also I am curious, what happens to TPMS when you remove stock rims and use these, do they transfer them into these rims? What's $149? Each rim? that's unheard of!

I'm not sure if they would fit, these rims are not staggered. As far as cost, Tire Rack had a sale on them for $149.00 ea. I don't know if they have anymore of them, these are polished face with silver inside. The others listed on Tire Rack are different, I guess the ones I bought are discontinued. Worse case, I can always get them powder coated black if they get chipped up. As far as tpms, once they are on, you reset system and drive after a minute it reads the system and sends message that all is good.

Fitment should be no problem with the new wheels, just make sure you ask them if it is TPMS compatible beforehand. If it is for winter tires, to save some money, I would skip on the TPMS if you don't mind on the Non detected TPMS indicator or you can code it off if you wanted. Just check the tire pressure manually frequently.

I'm looking at winter tires. I'm currently driving a 2015 M sport diesel and am concerned that the 255 width rims will look anemic. There are also options from the dealer to order 275 width.
My struggle is this. I know the 275s will look much better but will I actually lose out on much traction in the snow. Will it really make enough of a difference to just go with the 255s? |
