Full Black Panel Display with Multifunction Display

Gents-

UK build but presumably the same across the pond - Full Black Panel option, code 6WA (small picture) and Multifunction Display, code 6WB (big picture)

I paid £255 for what I thought was the Multifunction Display (price reduces from £500+ to £255 when ordered with HUD option) and I think what I actually have is 6WA

Problem is I have no codes on my order as was via lease company so cant check

My understanding of 6WB is that it changes to this display when you select the driving mode, i.e comfort, sport etc

So I either have the wrong one fitted or there is a secret button/setting I have missed to make 6WA turn into 6WB, or can you check what your build spec via the VIN somewhere...

This right there is ridiculous. I don't know if it is DOT requirement or some other problem, but that price is really great for the 6WB, and I don't understand why it is not an option in the US.

Yeah, it is. We have to pay almost 3x as much just to retrofit!

For whatever reason, BMW doesn't include it on the 5 series or X5. The 6 and X6 are more 'upmarket' according to one of my contacts. And it's either an option or standard on those.

375 pounds includes UK tax. So base price is 375 minus 16.66%, then any discount you can manage.

Just ask any dealer to enter the chassis number of the car and then you can see all the codes

If the leasing company forgot to enter the MFD code then you will have the full black panel display. Find your order and get ready to sue.

Yes that is exactly what has happened.
This is exactly what it said on the order I signed off against "MF display with HUD", I should have known better and asked for the codes, although at the time of my order the 6WB option had only just become available, and that was me telling the dealer! Not the end of the world as the 6WA full black panel is ok, need to check the numbers though. On a positive note I was lucky in that I got the 20" Star-spoke style 491 - Black alloy wheels instead of the 469 ones for the same price. My conclusion is its a minefield ordering a BMW, the UK BMW on line configurator is hopeless and the dealers often have no idea - love the car though

Totally agree and it's not uncommon for customers like us briefing sales reps and even their managers on the features of a car - pathetic. Bmw don't help either by having at least 3 different cockpit panels.

One dealer I went to hadn't a clue about the difference between lane departure warning and blind spot monitoring.
