50i - 17 mpg, taking it easy for the break-in. I can already see me getting much lower numbers.

2013 50i

Im showing 12.4 mpg all stop and go for the past 3000 ish miles of mainly inner city driving (tons of stop signs and stop lights) with an average speed of 26mph. I obviously don't baby it now, but when it was new I could keep it in the low 14mpg range.

However I can get in-between 20.5-21 with the cruise set on 80mph on the interstate. All numbers are from the computer, so accuracy is off some.

I really want to get the 5.0i but if the mpg is half of 3.5i.... its something I really need to think about.

11 seems really low - I got 11 on my 2011 F150 Limited with the 6.2 liter SOHC V8 ....

Doesn't sound promising.

But on the other hand, has anyone on this forum ever actually achieved the promised EPA mileage figures on ANY car? I doubt it -- we BMW fans would seem to have a genetic disposition to lead feet. And I wonder if anyone in the general population (other than our dear mothers or grandmothers) has ever succeeded at that either.

Exactly. I think the 50i is rated at 14 in the city? If you can get 14 out of all city driving, you would be doing very, very good. A lot of people forget that sitting at stop lights, burger lines etc. that your gas tank is getting lighter, but you aren't adding miles to the odometer which hurts overall mileage.

Yes, it is programs to last user mode. I do not use it, owners manual says this function can cause premature wear of parts. Hmmmm .... starter. Technician says starter is Heavy Duty.

35 vs 50. Is also v6 vs v8. 300hp vs 450 hp. The differences from E70 to F15 should be similar. Rember there is a 50 hp increase in the 50. Fuel is also improved with the air breathers. Also Ocatane 89 is min, 91 is recommended. some may use 93. I use 91 with no ethanol.
