Leather Dashboard
I am still working on my wish list for a new X5 and I was curious about the leather covered dash.
This is a relatively expensive option at $1200 and I was wondering if those who bought it would do so again? Does it hold up to the direct sunlight with no cracking, fading, or drying out, etc.? Does it only come in one color and what color is it? As always, thanks for any input! |

Definitely get it. You get softer leather seats for that 1200 as well and they are very comfortable. When I was comparing the range rover sport vs the x5 I almost couldn't get over how much nicer the rrs interior was but all the showroom x5s had the cheap leather seats and dash. Ended up getting x5 anyways and once it arrived with the nappa package it was a pleasant surprise in that it really upgrades the interior feel. You probably will have to be more careful with it in terms of maintenance but that would be the same for a nice leather couch vs a cheap ikea.

I did not get the leather dash this time around (with my F15) as I have kids now. If you do not have kids (or they are a bit older) than get it. The leather is soft, smells better (for real) and not only is the dash in leather, also the top of the door (silly thing but you may notice it when you lean your left hand on the door while you drive, it is softer). The issue with me was that I wanted was dakota mocha (because I absolutely love the color) and I could not select leather dash with it. Nappa is more expensive and more sensitive, not very child friendly. Nappa Mocha (IMO) with ventilated seats makes the car look 10 grand more expensive. Good luck with your purchase! |

When I took delivery I was blown away by the Mocha Nappa interior. And the smell of that... oooh, I hope it stays a bit longer )) One of those things that you simply have to go for.

I like the mocha seats but don't want the perforated leather. |

And to answer your original question, the leather on the dash if you choose this option is black Nappa. |

So no problems with the leather on the dash drying out and cracking or fading from the heat and sunlight? |

Mocha, Nappa & Leather dash for the win....
I agree with previous poster - it's like a +$10k vehicle inside..
