Running Boards on M Sport Pkg?

I am looking to install running boards on my M Sport xdrive50i. Do the OEM ones fit? Does anyone have pics?

Thanks in advance

Will look a lot better if the aluminum plate could be powder coated to black or all painted to match the car an just leave the rubber black.

Thanks! I am not a big fan either, but need it for practicality.

Fully agree. Will definitely paint to match the car if I decide to get them

But they really aren't that functional honestly. I'd just as soon open the door and step on the car that way to get to the roof. Small kid use, maybe, but again, still not a highly functional design, especially as a costly retrofit IMO.

Before you embark on installing the boards, be mindful that they sit at the same level as the cabin floor, thus there is no step provided at all; it is merely a protrusion/extension of the floor. They are also an effective way to turn your pants into a running-board-cleaning fabric.

They are only useful if you have a cargo box and need an outside platform to stand on, to better access the inside of the cargo box.

Even for using it as a stand for cargo loading, I would be wary about.. I would imagine the door panel would get scuffed up rather quickly.. Imagine someone trying to stand on the skinny running boards with dirty shoes ( acting as sandpaper ) scratching the paint off the lower part of the door.

Even now i find myself brushing the stock side skirts with my pants when i get into the car and mine is a Msport. I can't imagine having it protruding out even further...

My neighbor hates his X5 with them as well.

Umm, ok.
Most everyone agrees the running board design is more form than function. We are passing along downsides vs complaining as you put it. OP can obviously decide if they'll work for him/her or not.

like most people have said had running boards on my e70 color matched everything and when people got on they would scratch the paint and I would always have to be careful not to touch the running boards since I might get duty

B7S4 here's the original thread, complete with good pics for you to use in deciding whether or not to make the swap.

I've found that if I turn my body and step with my right foot on the sill then left foot out to the ground, it doesn't rub against my pants leg (at least not to the extent that I feel it). Might need some gymnastics maneuvering here. However, in tight parking spaces, it doesn't help.

My X Line F15 had it, and the only way I could avoid it was by swinging the door wide open, which you cannot in many places. My m-Sport F15 does not have it. If I were to re-order the X Line again, I would order without.

I have kids and my 3 year old can get in the car without issues fine on the msport. I am not sure what real value the running boards other than a particular look someone might want.

I just open the door and have a soft protection on the door sills. Works fine. Putting running boards on a m package looks wierd. I would rather not buy the m sport at all if those are needed.
