I don't know for sure on the f15, but every other BMW I've owned or still own is 88 ft/lbs.

Yep - it is typical as time is money. Most guys who have been working on cars will get it close with an impact and they think its good. And for most of us driving the roads, it probably is. For me, I even torque the wheels on my 05 pickup. On the track, it's absolutely required. Here's something that will blow your mind - on my 79 turbo Porsche, I used anti-seize on the threads. The lug nuts were aluminum and the studs were steel.

And I always re-torque when I buy new tires or get the free rotate and balance. Even when I ask for a specific spec, rarely do I find them tightened correctly.

One last point - it would crack me up to see a Sears Craftsman torque wrench at the track, seeing the value was set and probably left at XX ft lbs since the last event. If you want to do it right, buy a good wrench, unload it after each use (set to 0) and take it by a machine shop every couple years for calibration.

Just a little tidbit for those who are unfamiliar - Please do not tighten all the way to 103 lbf at once. I follow the sequence in the chart, but get to full torque in three steps

Lug Nut Size?

Does anyone know what size the lug nuts are for the F15?

I have the 20" wheels, not that it probably makes a difference and I want to buy a wheel wrench but want to be sure I get the right size.

Thanks.

The lug bolt head is 17mm hex.

I used to buy Craftsman torque wrenches. To me, they always seemed to go out of calibration after a year or so and I didn't trust them. Spend a little more money and you can buy CDI brand (basically Snap On without a Snap On brand logo) and they seem to last longer and work better.

Yep, don’t want to be too frugal with the money you spend for your torque wrench.
