Understanding "Track my BMW"

I ordered my X5 on Thursday and registered at My BMW where can I see the Vehicle Timeline. Yesterday it was at "Order Documented" phase. I just looked at it not expecting any change and it is now at the "Production Begins" phase. That seemed quick!

Does that mean that production will begin shortly? How long does a vehicle typically stay in the "Production Begins" phase?

I also noticed the selected options is not an exact match for my production order. Is that normal?

Thanks!

It's not unexpected that it jump into production if the stars align. Production is typically a week, give or take a day. You'll get more detail on the 800#. The website only says "Production Begins", but the 800# will give you "In Production", "In the Paint Shop", "Being Assembled", as well as estimated completion dates. BTW - "Production Begins" is actually in production, so your vehicle is being built.

The selected options don't typically match exactly. You want to make sure that any standalone options you selected are there, and that any packages you selected are there. But you might have a few oddities. For instance, mine shows both high-gloss and satin-aluminum roof rails. It also shows comfort seats and multi-contour seats both. It's a pretty generic listing. If anything seems to be missing, then I'd reach out to your CA and request a vehicle information report (VIR) to make sure everything you wanted is there.

If you want to make sure that the packages and options you selected and the one they received are same, just call 800# and speak to a representative. I just did and he read out all the configuration which I check marked in my build sheet to make sure my CA did it right.

That's good it went into production early. I think you said your production week is 35 right.

Watching the old orders, it appears like customer sold order are going into production a week or 2 earlier.

My production status per 800 is production completed, waiting to be released to carrier since yesterday 18th of Aug. Any thoughts on how quick the car will ship? I am thinking by the end of this week (IL).

Mine said Mineral Silver for the first couple days. Thats when i called the 800 number to ask as my paperwork said MIneral White. A human answered the phone and was friendly and gave me all the right answers. She also suprised me as she told me (I called on Moday afternoon a week ago) that my order I placed at 11am was already in production and would be done on the 18th.

I have the exact same issue with High Gloss and Satin Aluminum roof rails. Dealer told me there would be videos on there of them amking my exact car, but I don't see anything like that, not even vidoes of them making any car. I have not tried the 800 number

According to "My BMW" my build is complete as of the middle of last week (8/28). I am scheduled to go to the PCD to pick it up on 9/11. I'm excited!

Is there anything I need to be aware of relative to picking it up?
