Mine doesn't level to save my life. It takes a damn act of Congress with manipulating the arms under the car. It will inflate and deflate and level out just fine when I run ISTA but even with all new bags it will randomly adjust to weird heights after some time. I'm starting to think my sensors are going bad but that's just odd and not indicated when I run the test on them in ISTA. JUst frustrating to all hell trying to get my back end leveled and even. I also have to have the driver side set different than the passenger. I noticed the sensors themselves seem to be mounted in slightly different positions.

So if the airbag leaking slowly on its own i'd just remove the compressor fuse or D/C the battery and let it squat to bump stop and then remove the airbag by then it should have little air. |

Don't need to remove the fuse or disconnect battery. The pump isn't powered unless the car is on/position 2 and ista just helps guarantee the bellows empty and fill when you want them too. For me I've had issues getting the pump to activate and fill the bags when I want. Either an issue with the sensor or just my luck.
If you puncture I would slowly drill a small hole in the bag as this will be less violent and or dangerous.

Well except maybe a bus. Also get the Arnott ones. Replaced two airbags on a 2008 S-Class about two years ago also with Arnott ones; perfect to this day.

I often park front forward on a down slope and I've never seen it sag like that even after a few weeks.

I replaced my with the Arnott 2642 from rockauto and it was still sitting low and not sitting level overnight, sometime the driver side will be lower also.
I bit the bullet and bought the bmw oem ones from FCPeuro for 800$ it sits level, rides smoother and I get free replacements if its leaks . Not sure if you all changed to the Arnott one and have the leveling issues but I think either my was defective or Arnott is not exactly compatible with our F15 as the E70 also uses the same part number per Arnott website. I just replaced mine last weekend (127,000kms on a 2014 model) with the Arnott ones. It had been sitting really low some cold mornings until last weekend it wouldn’t even inflate them. Started the car, and you could hear hissing from both sides and the compressor going nonstop. Pulled into the garage and swapped them both in 90 minutes including getting the car on stands and bleeding the air lines at the compressor. I went with Arnott because OE obviously only lasts 4-5 years and the Arnott ones have a lifetime warranty. Really easy job actually, pleasantly surprised.
So far they ride like stock and don’t leak. Hopefully these last a while. |

Just seen this video pop up on my recommended list. Not exactly what we seem to be encountering, but interesting nonetheless.

Yea. Pretty sure I had to lower the jack a little to get the compressor to kick on. Then after pulling the jack, a few more minutes to fully settle. Hasn't been a problem since |

Awsome DIY
Thanks Mr.47, this is well done.
I joined this forum to better understand what was going on with the rear suspension on my 2015 X5. Lucky for me, I both the 4 years, unlimited millage extended warranty from the dealer when I bought the car. By reading the thread, I understand I'll have to replace it in 3-4 years from now. Anyone knows why the OEM part is so weak? |

Finally got around to do this and it wasn’t too bad. 1.5 to 2 hours. Wasted 15-20 minutes trying to fool with the tabs at the bottom but I found that they pop out with a swift pry up one the bag on the top side. Didn’t need to deflate since my were sagged out already. The arnots had new fill tube fittings so wasted another 10-15 minutes on the first one trying carefully remove and save the inside piece. Really could be a 1 hour job but hopefully won’t need to do it again. Props to mr 47 and mav for the step by step and related commentary.
